Last Saturday I got the chance to work at one of Hulls hidden gems.  St Columbas Church just near East Park.  I swear I have driven past it hundreds of times and just never seen it standing there.  Its a wonderful place brigh and airy with the most wonderful cottage style gardens to the side.  I really hope I get to work here again.

Anyway enough of that onto the important stuff .. the special couple.  Shannon and Craig.  After beeing together for about 7 years Craig popped the question and asked Shannon to marry him.  They chose to have the wedding at the church just down the road from there home in Hull and the reception at the Holiday Inn on Hull marina.

So on Saturday morning I woke early drew back the curtains to find.. heavy rain “aww noooo” I though.  So packed my wet gear and a few bollys to protect us and set out just hoping for the best.   Well by the time I reached St Columbas the rain had gone and to my amazement the ground was dry.  Luck was on my side again, brilliant!

Here are a few shots from Shannon and Craigs wonderful day that I so enjoyed beeing a part of.

I first met Chris and Tina at a wedding fair on a rainy day last Autumn. They arranged for me to visit them at home in Brough so we could have a chat and I could show them some albums. Now I always remember walking into there home as when I entered they had one of my favourite classical groups, Bond playing in the back ground. As we got chatting it turned out that we had a few things in common but one of the main was our love of fun but classic things in life. So when the big day rocked up I wanted to really capture the relaxed fun vibe I got from this wonderful couple. They had a most excellent day weather wise and it made for some wonderful photos.

When I first met Helen, Mike and ther two wonderful girls I realised that this was a real family and this wedding was not just about bringing two people together but about celebrating what they already had.  A wonderful loving family.

The day was intimate and relaxed and with a real family eliment.  Best of all after days of rain the sun peeked his head just intime for out garden photos.  Perfect.

When I first met Sue a few weeks before the big day I asked her as I always do ( I'm just a sucker for a romantic story) “ so come on do tell me.. how did he propose”? When I asked this a big smile spread across her face. She explained that a few months before she had asked Nick what he would like for his birthday she wanted something special as it was one of the big 0's. He turned and said to her that all he wanted was her.. and would she marry him. So of course Sue said yes (other wise lets face it you wouldn’t be sat reading this now) and they chose to share this special day on Nicks birthday.

The theme was “Big Kids Birthday Party” everything was bright, bold, colourful and fun. They went for cute little cupcakes instead of a wedding cake and scattered balloons and bright fresh flower every where.

Maggie Taylor from MET events helped Sue and Nick create the special day they wanted. She arranged everything from flowers to cup cakes and on the day was there to ensure everything was as it should be.

Sue and Nick didn’t want a big wedding and chose to just invite close friends and family we kept the style of the photos casual and just made a party game of it.

Wow so its been a while since my last update.. its offical we have hit wedding season.  So I have been a little busy shooting and editing images from some wonderful days.  But before I bombard you with wedding images for the next few months I wanted to share something else for a change.

As some of you have already read I took on a new second shooter a few months ago and we have been doing some on going training.  One of our lessons was on travel photography and for her photographing people with out them noticing.  I did this lesson for two reasons.  First I wanted Amy to learn how to blend in something thats not always easy when you have a huge camera around your neck, and second I wanted her to learn how to re create the feel and atmosphere of the location your  working on.  When you look at travel photos you see all the little wonderful things that makes that place a place you want to be.  Anyway once I had given Amy a brief off she toddled and this give me some time to do some travel style shooting of my own.

The Location Beverley Saturday market.. my own lesson / experiment.  Learning how to create vintage photos.  I wanted to shoot in a way that made the viewer wonder if they had steped back in time.  Or at least give the photos a vintage edge.  This was very different for me as I spend most of my time taking bubblely bright photos of people.  But I enjoyed the task I had set my self and here is a taster of the results.
